Concert performance on 13 September 2020 at the Forum Brixen, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Article in "Brixner" No. 368 A Touch of Mexico The young musicians of the Matteo Goffriller Youth Symphony Orchestra had to wait months for their performance in South Tyrol, but in September the time had finally come: Thanks to generous sponsors such as the Brixen Tourism Association, a touch of Mexico was able to waft over the Brixen audience at the Forum. The 60 musicians, under the direction of the charismatic founder and conductor Stephen Lloyd, impressed with youthful vigor and a palpable desire to express themselves through music. This spark also spread to the audience, who were delighted to listen to Bellini's "Norma," Mascagni, Mozart, and Vivaldi. Contemporary composers such as the Mexican composer Roberto Abraham Mafud and film music legend Ennio Morricone also received enthusiastic acclaim. Soloist Augusto Palumbo led the audience through Vivaldi's Concerto for Bassoon with his pleasantly narrative style. The young pianist Elisa Wallnöfer coaxed particularly enchanting pianos from the Bösendorfer with her intimate playing, while Valeria Mussner on the flute and Annelies Gschliesser on the clarinet impressed. At 15, Anna Sofia Franceschini was one of the youngest soloists, but no less confident for that. The successful concert once again demonstrates how much the local music scene is enriched by the efforts of Stephen Lloyd and how the next generation is being nurtured by the JSOMG teachers, especially the motivational artist Irene Troi.
